Nico Tortorella is an actor, author, musician, artist, and advocate. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, he grew up in a big hockey family until a grade school production of The Wizard of Oz pulled him off the ice and onto the stage. Acting became an instant calling. He began working professionally soon after, performing in a production that ran for five years. After high school, he briefly explored art school and business school before ultimately returning to what had always been his true path.
Tortorella met his match with beloved horror icon Ghost Face while starring in Scream 4 (2011). He went on to appear in another Kevin Williamson project, Fox’s serial-killer drama The Following (2013). He is best known for playing Josh in the hit TV series Younger from 2015 to 2021. Most recently, he starred in Apple TV’s City on Fire as the chaotic, beloved downtown art-scene heir William Hamilton Weeny III. He also played Felix in The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020–2021), following the first generation to come of age during the zombie apocalypse.
Tortorella is the author of three books: All of It Is You—a poetry collection exploring the expansiveness of the universe; Space Between: Explorations of Love, Sex, and Fluidity—a memoir examining evolving identity, addiction, family, and fame; and Olivette Is You, a children’s book encouraging kids to embrace all the different parts of themselves. In 2024, Tortorella released Born, an experimental pop album inspired by his journey into fatherhood, exploring themes of lineage, spirituality, and transformation.
Currently, Tortorella joins the ranks of creatives redefining the non-alcoholic beverage space with the release of DER—the first kratom-based brewski. Created in collaboration with CBD Kratom, DER offers a real social buzz without the blur: drink, enjoy, repeat.
He lives in Florida with his wife, Bethany, and their two children.
