Melonie Diaz was raised on New York’s Lower East Side, where she attended the Henry Street Settlement, which first got her into acting. She continued to develop her craft as a student at the Professional Performing Arts High School before going on to study Film Production through New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Diaz is most notably known for her role as Mel Vera on the CW’s Charmed remake, which ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2022. She has received Independent Spirit Awards nominations for her performances in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) and Fruitvale Station (2013). She can also be seen in The Belko Experiment (2016) alongside Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, and Mikaela Hoover.
Most recently, Diaz starred in Hulu’s American Horror Stories, the anthology spin off of the hit FX series, in an episode titled “The Thing Under the Bed”. You can also catch Diaz in the upcoming film, Roofman.
