Czech-born Vladimir Kulich made his mark on the action film world as Builwyf in the 1999 film The 13th Warrior, based on Michael Crichton’s novel Eaters of the Dead, opposite Antonio Banderas, Diane Venora, and Omar Sharif.
Kulich developed a love for the theatre and acting at a young age, thanks to the theatre company his uncle operated. However he wasn’t able to fully invest himself in his acting career until the producers from 21 Jump Street offered him a small role on the show—after he retired from hockey at twenty-one and opened a white water rafting business near Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1989, Kulich landed small roles on Neon Rider, Wiseguy, MacGyver, and Booker.
During the 1990’s, Kulich found roles on Knots Landing, The Commish, Highlander, Necronomicon: Book of Dead, Cobra, Crackerjack, M.A.N.T.I.S., Red Scorpion 2, The X-Files, Decoy, Breach of Trust, and Firestorm. As The Beast, he found a reoccurring role on Joss Whedon’s Buffy spin-off, Angel in 2003. Kulich portrayed The Swede in the 2006 film Smokin’ Aces.
Recently, Kulich performed in Ironclad, Chuck, The History Channel’s historical drama Vikings, The Equalizer opposite Denzel Washington, and Live-Evil with Tony Todd and Vincent M. Ward. He’s also lent his vocal talents to the video games The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Tomb Raider.
